Over the years, the Empress Ballroom has played host to thousands of dance evenings, from classical ballroom in the 50s and 60s, to Northern Soul
all-nighters in the 80s, to raves in the 90s. It has now reopened for regular events and private hire, and the room is as spectacular as ever.
Featuring huge high ceilings, original 1920s décor that has been revitalised almost a hundred years later, sprung dancefloor and large performance stage that
can play host to DJs and live bands alike, the Empress Building is a function room with plenty to offer organisers of school and workplace reunions.
Our venue has the capacity to hold up to an impressive 350 guests, with a fully licensed bar and catering options that range from classic cold buffet to
luxurious silver-service three course dinner with after dinner coffees. Need entertainment? We have you covered, with a range of options, from a DJ with
access to all of the classics from your school era and beyond, to live bands with the skills to play those same classics.

for your home-made buffet and seating for your guests. We will also open
our fully licensed bar for your guests to buy their refreshments, alcoholic
or otherwise.
Room and Catering – Let us take the hassle out of the event by catering
for your guests with a hot or cold buffet, so that you simply need to arrive
and enjoy the occasion, with the help of the fully licensed bar. This
package is limited to a minimum of 50 paid heads.
Room, catering and entertainment – An all-round package, including full
catering services and furniture. We will also arrange the entertainment in
the form of a professional DJ to help your guests get into the swing of the
